Good pubs?
Hey there, I've just moved into the area and was wondering, are there any good pubs in the vicinity? I've been to the Archway Tavern but it's a big noisy place with guys mostly watching football ! anyone know of something quieter and more cosy? many thanks ..

There is a pub down the road from the tube called St. Johns Tavern - I'll admit it doesn't look much from the outside but it has hidden talents. It used to be a bit of an old geezer's pub but has smartened up somewhat. It's a gastro pub, and not cheap - but has genuinely good quality food, a couple of well kept ales and top desserts. Give it a go.

Go further up the road to Highgate and try the Angel in the High Street - great food and great atmosphere

There's always The Shafesbury on Hornsea road. Lovely pub, quite and chilled out.
Good range of drinks and the food is nce (but a little overpriced) really worth a go... and it's only 5 mons walk from Archway :)
