New hoops leave cyclists across Muswell Hill, Crouch End and Hornsey with little excuse

Muswell Hill, Crouch End and Hornsey now have new ‘Cyclehoop’ bike parking facilities, in an effort by the council and the Department for Energy and Climate Change to encourage bike travel and make it easier for cyclists to park their bikes at popular locations.
The hoops are attached to existing signposts, providing more secure cycle parking options without adding to street clutter. A sticker on each of the signposts explains how to lock bicycles onto the Cyclehoop, making sure cyclists properly secure their bikes to help prevent theft.
The cyclehoops can be found at 19 locations, and councillor Nilgun Canver (pictured), cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said that their introduction will galvanise those that may have contemplated cycling in the past.
“The installation of the cyclehoops has given cyclists many more choices in where to securely park their bicycles in busy shopping areas.  We hope that this will encourage more people to get on their bike to go to the shops rather than taking their car, helping in our efforts against climate change.”
